I had the absolute pleasure of working with Joel, the mascot of Richland High School, for his senior photos. From the start, I knew this session was going to be a blast—Joel is the definition of laid-back, fun, and chill. He had so many creative ideas that I couldn’t wait to bring to life!
Joel is known for his playful side—he loves to wear his Spider-Man costume to pick up his sister and his girlfriend’s sister, just to embarrass them a little and have some fun. And let’s not forget his crazy sock obsession; Joel is always rocking wild socks, and they made for some fantastic, colorful shots.
Originally, we had two locations picked out for his session, but his personality inspired me to add a third, completely free of charge. We kicked things off at the graffiti walls in downtown Fort Worth, where we captured his Spider-Man look and showcased those signature crazy socks. The energy was infectious, and Joel was in his element.
Next, we headed to the West Seventh Bridge, where we slowed things down a bit for more serious portraits. Here, we got some beautiful photos of Joel with his girlfriend and his parents—perfect for capturing a different side of his personality.
Finally, we moved to an abandoned parking lot with downtown Fort Worth in the background for some car shots with his Corvette. Joel’s mom had a special vision for one photo: a moody shot with the headlights on, Joel sitting in between the car, and the evening light just right. We waited about five to seven minutes for the sun to set enough to get that perfect vibe—and I think we absolutely nailed it.
After such a fun and energetic session, they wrapped up with a celebratory dinner at Velvet Taco.
